East & Midwest Meets West

Arriving at the end of Route 66 (and technically a bit beyond), my symbolic completion was pouring water from the Gulf of Mexico in Florida and Lake Michigan in Chicago into the Pacific Ocean.

With blissfully calm weather in Florida, overcast and “moist” with no wind or waves in Chicago, and mild weather in Santa Monica, I did not plan for the small Pacific waves. My shorts got soaked!

Undaunted, I “christened” the Pacific Ocean with Gulf and Lake Michigan waters. Had I realized I was going to get wet, I would have taken the “End of the Trail” sign pics and Santa Monica pier pics first.
